In the Boat With...
Tournament: Get5Bass Solo Series Championship
September 12th, 2021
Lake Dardanelle
Angler: Frank Leone - 11th Place - 3 bass - 5.31 pounds
Practice: No Practice for this one...
Tournament: Even after last week's bomb, I thought I had a pattern figured out to catch a mixed bag limit up the river. My plan was to go up the river and hit a bunch of straight stretches of rock with a jig. When I got everyone taken off, I headed up river to see if the plan would work. The first thing I noticed was that they were running a little current and the water level was high. It had a bunch of water piling in the run-ins, so I decided to run a few of those to start the morning. Finally, I came to a small, un-obvious run-in on the main river. Oddly enough, I've only caught one keeper out of this spot, and it was in last year's Solo Championship... Could it happen again? Yep, you guessed it! Caught a 3.5 pounder out of it and the day was off to a good start. That's where the momentum ended. in fact, it took over 4 hours to get my next keeper in the boat... My plan had failed and my goose was cooked.
Keeper count:
2 Keepers: Leone's Toad Jig by Rope; Denali Lithium 7'4 MH; 16 Lb. Sunline Sniper FC
1 Keeper: Spinnerbait; Denail Lithium 6'10 MH; 50 Lb. Sunline Asegai Braid
Final Thoughts: Bow season can't get here quick enough. Two bombs is not the way I wanted to end the season. Time to reflect and work on my game for next season...
See ya' on the flip side...
