2009 Tournament Schedules are Already Coming In!!!!

Believe it or not, but it is already time for 2009 Tournament Schedules Here
are two noteworthy schedules which actually begin in 2008:

Terrance and I are proud to announce the
2009 Get5Bass Winter Series!!!
As it was in 2008, the Winter Series will be a team format, but we will have
some changes this year that we hope will be a big hit with our viewership. First,
we will have two divisions. The North Division will consist of 4 tournaments to
be held on Lake Dardanelle (State Park Ramp - Russellville). The South
Division will consist of 2 tournaments on DeGray Lake, 1 on Lake Ouachita,
and 1 on Lake Hamilton. The top 10 points earners from each respective
division will be invited to fish in the No entry fee
2009 Get5Bass Winter Series
Championship
, which will be held at a neutral mystery lake. Following the
conclusion of the championship, we will also crown our
Get5Bass Winter Series
Anglers of the Year
, who will take home trophies and a nice prize package.
Here is the
2009 Get5Bass Winter Series schedule:

November 29th - Lake Dardanelle (State Park Ramp) 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
November 30th - Lake Hamilton (AGFC Hatchery Ramp) 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

2009 ABA District 47 Schedule

ABA's American Fishing Tournaments are "draw tournaments" with
guaranteed boat use if signing up as a boater. Non boaters are welcome and
will be paired up by a draw tournament morning.  Non boaters pay same entry
fee as boaters and everyone is fishing for the payout money and points toward
the Regional Championship.  Annual Membership in ABA is $25 and each 1-
day entry fee is $70 which includes "Big Bass".  Everyone has to be at
tournament site 1 hour before "official sunrise".  That allows for boat
inspection and launching.  There is a mandatory tournament briefing that
begins 30 minutes prior to "official sunrise".  Once briefing starts late arrivals
cannot fish.  Following the briefing the non boaters will be paired and those
boaters not being paired will fish alone. Here's the schedule:

Date                              Lake                                               Ramp

Dave Lewis and Gary Cates Win Get5Bass Summer Series
Tournament
on DeGray Lake

Gary Cates and Dave Lewis Win on DeGray Lake !!!

Story by Cody Kemp

It was a wonderful, but oddly cool mid-august afternoon proceeding the final
regular season event, as 20 boats awaited patiently for their chance to fish
on the most productive water in the state. With almost every tournament the
last few months being won with weights near the 20 pound mark, you had to
believe that it would take another large sack to be in contention for the
number 1 spot. AND OF COARSE IT DID!!!!

With our first place team
Dave Lewis and Gary Cates smashed a huge
limit of fish that went 19.40lbs!!! This massive satchel of fish consisted of
two that hit the 5.00lb mark. With their catch they earned $300.00 on the
night. These guys I'm sure would like to keep their secrets "secret" but
they were spotted before dark in the mid portion of the lake -  but who
knows where they went after dark!

Our second place team was
Tyler Whitley and myself. We knew coming
into tonight that we had to catch a solid stringer to maintain the number one
spot in the AOY race. With Blake Wilson and Chad Burrow breathing down
our necks, we brought in a solid sack that weighed 16.80lbs which nailed
down that top spot for us and won us $150.00. We also claimed the big bass
pot with a 5.72lb drag stripping hippo, which was worth an additional $75.00.
Our tactic was similar to last week's second place finish, as we concentrated
on main lake grass lines with Reaction Innovations Big Unit worms.

Our third place finishers were
Spencer Shuffield and Chris
Stinnett
with 14.94lbs that earned them $75.00 on the night. Spencer was
fresh off his road trip back from the Forrest Wood Cup where he finished
25th overall on the co-angler side. I'm certain that he wishes he could have
found that 14.94lbs from the back of the boat over there, because the
outcome would have certainly been different. Congrats anyway Spencer on
an awesome year.

Our Fourth place finishers earning a free entry fee into our championship
worth $60.00 was
Ron Shuffield and Ryan Shuffield. They had a solid
stringer that netted 12.52lbs. They fished the mid portion of the lake
throwing big worms and jigs around brush piles. Ron is also fresh back from
the CUP where he finished 16th overall on the pro-side. Congratulations
Ron on your awesome finish this year, I look forward to seeing you guys at
our championship.

The regular season is over after 16 events everyone is pretty burned out
right now and ready for a short break, but I would like to personally thank
everyone for fishing with us this year. We have had an awesome time and
have enjoyed some amazing fishing each and every week out on lake
Degray. With the points system driving us, everyone has been fishing extra
hard all summer improving and getting better each and every week. This is
why I personally wanted this format of a summer series around Lake
Degray so that everyone would be fishing for something whether they won
or not. Competition is what drives us as anglers and forces us to improve,
and knowing where you stand with your peers is a huge tool to have when
trying to improve, so I hope it has been as big a value to you all as it has to
me. I have really enjoyed this year and wright this down "This
Championship Tournament will be great", and I'm looking forward to being
a part of it with you all. Thanks again everyone……. Cody

Remember The Championship is September 27th and to fully qualify you
must have fished 7 of the regular season events, although if you have fished
at least 4 tournaments and you wish to fish the championship you will need
to pay for the remaining 3 tournaments you did not participate in, in-order to
qualify. You must also be a member of Get5Bass.com which is still only the
$25.00 membership fee, due no later than the day of the championship.

Quincy Houchin and Tracy Holden Win Sherwood Bass Club
Tournament on the Arkansas River

Story by Ron Plate

As the 2008 season winds down, 45 boats arrived bright and early for the
next to last tournament of the season for Sherwood Bass Club. With the
weather cooling off over the last few days, the anglers were excited to get
out on the water and test their skills.  Also with  the “Team of the year”
race being very tight, the level of excitement was there for a great
tournament day.

With the recent rains, the water flow and level was up  so it made for a
interesting day of fishing vs.a week earlier.  But like all tournaments,
someone found the fish as 14 limits came to the scales.  The top team for the
day was Quincy Houchin and Tracy Holden with a weight of 15.52 lbs which
included big bass of the day at 4.78 lbs.

Quincy and Tracy said they caught fish all day long on frogs fishing main
river grass.  For their efforts they won $810 + $450 for big bass.

Second place team of Sam Eastwood and Chip Hawkins said they caught
their fish using buzzbaits early and then switching to a Fat Free shad fishing
rock dikes on the main river.  Their efforts won them $495 with a weight of
15.00 lbs

They third place team of Duke Gunnell and Brandon Rhoden caught their
fish on topwater and a Norman Middle N.  They won $315 with a weight of
14.43 lbs

Below is the balance of the top Ten Teams.

4.  Jeff Grappe/Jeff Glymp                       14.24 lbs   $180
5.  Kyle Henderson/Jackie Cole               13.14 lbs    Free Entry
6.  Steve Howard                                    13.01 lbs
7.  Duane Paquette/Casey Jones             12.59 lbs
8.  Dan Dinges/Gary Clark                       12.06 lbs
9.  Kyle Wodmansee/Bryan Calloway       11.52 lbs
10. Robert Spears/Martin Whitaker           10.02 lbs
