Mark Hensiek Wins Arkansas Couples Tournament on the
Arkansas River
Mark Hensiek Wins on the Little Rock Pool !!!
Mark Hensiek topped 27 teams fishing Vince Miller's Arkansas Couples
Tournament on the Little Rock Pool of the Arkansas River by catching 5 bass
that tipped the scales at 14.03 pounds. With the cloudy and rainy weather on
Sunday one would have thought that the bite would be on fire, but that was not
the case as only 5 limits crossed the scales. Here's how the top 3 teams caught
their fish:
1st - Mark Hensiek - 5 bass - 14.03 pounds - $825.00
Mark intended to lock down into Pool 5, but started to have engine problems
before reaching the lock. He decided to stick with it and fish his way back
upriver. He concentrated on rocks, where he threw Zara Spooks , Pop-Rs, and
shaky head worms to catch his winning bag. He caught 8 keepers on the day.
2nd - Michael and Tonya Johnson - 5 bass - 12.37 pounds - $425.00
Michael and Tonya stayed in Pool
6, where they caught their bass on
Stanley Ribbit Frogs (White), and
Reaction Innovation Sweet Beavers
(Black/Red flake).

3rd - Will and Roberta Cranston - 5 bass - 10.82 pounds - $300.00
Will and Roberta started their day
by catching a keeper on a Norman
Crankbait off of a rock jettie, but
caught the majority off their weight
with a Texas-rigged Zoom Baby
Brushhog fished off of sand points.
Will and Roberta also won the
"Anglers of the Year" for the third
consecutive year.
Will and Roberta pose with the "Willy
and Sue Crumpton Memorial Trophy"
Which they will have for a year for
Winning the 2008 Arkansas Couples
"Anglers of the Year" Award
Big Bass - Cliff and Kathy Crowder - 4.86 pounds - $230.00
Kathy caught the day's big bass, a
4.86 pound "Baby Cub", on a buzzbait.
