Nick and Kaylynn Ruffin Win Arkansas Couples Tournament on
Lake Dardanelle
Kaylynn and Nick Ruffin with part of their winning bag!!!
Nick and Kaylynn Ruffin topped 37 teams fishing Vince Miller's Arkansas
Couples tournament this Sunday on Lake Dardanelle by bringing 5 bass to the
scales that weighed 15.41 pounds. The couples fishing this event had to cope
with hot water temperatures and extremely high river flows that have plagued
the Arkansas River system this year. Despite the conditions, plenty of bass
were brought to the scales, including 10 five bass limits. Here's how the top 4
teams caught their fish:
1st - Nick and Kaylynn Ruffin - 5 bass - 15.41 pounds - $975.00
Nick and Kaylynn concentrated
their efforts on shallow vegetation
located less than 2 miles from the
launch . They caught a few fish
on topwater frogs and Zoom
brushhogs, but most of their better
fish were landed on white spinnerbaits
(double willow blades).

2nd - Will and Roberta Cranston - 5 bass - 14.40 pounds - $550.00
Will and Roberta started their day in
Illinois Bayou, where they caught 4
keepers on Carolina rigged Zoom
plastics (Lizards, Speed Craws,
Brushhogs - All Green Pumpkin). Next,
they went to Shoal Bay, where they
landed 1 keeper on a finesse worm.
Finally, they found themselves in Piney
Bay, where they were able to cull 3
fish on crankbaits and Carolina Rigs
Will and Roberta Cranston
3rd - Aubrey Johnson and Joan Craig - 5 bass - 12.92 pounds - $400.00
Aubrey and Joan fished shallow
vegetation in the same area as
the winning team. Their fish were
caught on Zoom Horny Toads,
plastic worms, and spinnerbaits.

4th - Zach and Tonya King - 5 bass - 12.37 pounds - $300.00
Besides one early frog fish, Zach and
Tonya concentrated their efforts on
drops and brush located in the lower
end of Dardanelle. Their deep fish
were caught on football jigs and
shakey head worms.

Big Bass - Josh Goodson and Dot Case - 5.62 pounds - $370.00
Josh and Dot landed the big bass
of the event, a 5.62 pound "toad"
on a topwater frog in the Dardanelle
Bay area.
