Greg and Carl Carpenter topped 60 teams fishing Trader Bill's Team Championship this weekend by bringing 10 bass to the scales weighing 22.63 pounds. The two-day event was actually fished on two different bodies of water. Saturday's action took place on Lake Hamilton, and today the teams fished DeGray Lake. Although Carl wanted to tell me how they caught their fish today (on DeGray), he couldn't because he will be fishing the Mr. Bass Classic here in three weeks. He did tell me that he and Greg caught about 15 keepers throughout the day en route to their 5 fish bag of 15.01 pounds (Look out Mr. Bass contenders!!!). "We kind of got lucky on Saturday - We only had one keeper at 1:00 pm" said Carl of their fishing at Lake Hamilton. "Then after the rain died we caught about 20 keepers before weigh-in" Carl added. Their Hamilton fish were caught on Carolina-rigged Zoom Centipedes.
Here's how the second and third place teams caught their fish:
2nd - Denny and Tommy Thompson - 10 Bass - 22.43 pounds
On day 1 at Hamilton, The Thompson duo caught their fish on crankbaits and jigs fished in the main lake area. On day 2, all of their fish (including the tournaments big bass - a 6 pound brute) were caught out of wind blown pockets on spinnerbaits. "I caught the big fish about 2:30 in the afternoon - we caught all our keepers today on spinnerbaits, except one that was caught on a jig" said Tommy

3rd - Tony Usdrowski and Larry Vaughan - 10 Bass - 21.70 pounds
On Day one, Larry and Tony caught 30 - 40 Hamilton special's (13 - 14 inch fish) by concentrating on main lake points and throwing Carolina-rigged centipedes. On Day 2, the duo had their 5 fish limit by 7:00 am and caught about 10 keepers throughout the day. Due to the Mr. Bass Classic, Larry and Tony did not want to divulge their fish catching techniques on Lake DeGray.
