David and Carl Wooten topped 23 teams fishing the Team Bass Tournament Series Championship this weekend on Lake Hamilton by catching 10 bass that weighed 16.77 pounds. Bluebird skies and high pressure were prevalent during the tournament, but the cooler water temps (62 - 65 F) turned the fish on, and as usual on Hamilton this event was a "limit fest". Here's how David and Carl caught their fish:
David and Carl Wooten - 10 bass - 16.77 pounds
David and Carl concentrated their efforts on the lower end of the lake from the HWY 7 Bridge to Carpenter Dam. Their fish were caught off of docks, steep banks, and long flats. On day 1, they started off with a quick limit on topwater lures (Megabass Giant Dog-X, feather added on rear treble). When the fog lifted and the sun got high, they switched to jigs (3/8 oz. Jewel Eakins Flipping Jigs and 5/8 oz. Jewel Football Jigs - both Brown/Purple tipped with Jewel Eakins Craws) and were able to upgrade their limit. On day 2, David and Carl caught 15 keepers to clinch the victory. Their day 2 fish were caught on topwater, jigs, and Carolina - rigged Zoom Brush hogs (Watermelon seed).
