Suggs feels good about rest of FLW season, decision to leave B.A.S.S
Scott Suggs of Alexander, is
a familiar name these days atop leader
boards at the highest level of tournament
competition.Currently ranked
41st in the world (BassFan World
Rankings), Scott has enjoyed a meteoric
rise to success. Get5Bass interviewed
Scott about his 2006 FLW Tour season
and his decision to leave B.A.S.S.
GET5: Your currently 48th in the points
on the FLW tour, and if the season were
to end today, you would qualify for the
FLW Championship. How do you feel Scott Suggs of Alexander Photo:FLW
about the next two tournaments (Kentucky Lake, Lake Champlain)?
Scott: Well, the bad thing about Champlain, is that there are so many fish there, that everyone in
going to catch them. It's really hard to distance yourself from the field there.
I'm really looking forward to going to Kentucky Lake, I feel really good about making the top 50
there.
GET5: Kentucky Lake really sets up well with your strengths, is that an accurate
statement?
Scott: Yeah, but the water has been high, and they have been having some cold weather, which
may lead to a late spawn. I believe the last spawning wave will probably hit while we are there.
There will be some sight-fishing going on, but hopefully some will be out deep. I'd rather fish for
post spawn fish on deep drops and ledges.
GET5: You left B.A.S.S. To fish exclusively with FLW Outdoors, How do you feel about
that decision?
Scott: I'm happy with my decision, Irwin Jacobs is doing so much for FLW, and with Wal-Mart to
bring in all these corporate sponsors, I thought it was more of a stable, secure way of supporting
my family. Being owned by a network like B.A.S.S. is with ESPN, there is no guarantee day to
day, especially with all the new big contracts they signed.
GET5: Could you tell us about your newest sponsor?
Scott: I signed with Folger's Coffee, that's a deal I'm really excited about. For them to come on at
this point in the season, I signed midway through the season with them, it's something great that's
happened to myself and the rest of the team members.
