William Hope Wins the Southwest City Bass Club Tournament
on DeGray Lake
William Hope Wins on DeGray Lake!!!

With Angler of the year on the line and several members within striking
distance it all came down to the last tournament this year. 4 anglers were
within 6 points of each other going into this tournament, anyone of them
could win Angler of the year so the pressure was on and Lake Degray did
not disappoint. It was 27 degrees at takeoff and the water temp was in the
low 50’s which made for a slow morning bite, that turned into a hot bite
around 10 AM from what several anglers discussed at weigh in. William was
in 2nd place in the points going into this tournament, due to a shortage of
non-boaters this month we had a boater on boater draw which resulted in
myself and my father in law Bob Howard drawing out together, since he was
leading the points going into this tournament we were disappointed to say
the least but looked forward to fishing with each other. Bob won the coin
toss and had the opportunity to take his boat but deferred to me and we took
the Ranger.
1st Place - William Hope - 18.84 pounds
At 10 AM we did not have a fish in the boat and then it happened! We
caught 6 overs in less than 30 minutes and the competition was on. All I can
say is the “Spindarella” showed out in a big way! Once you find the fish the
bait is like no other. I did not catch a short fish all day, and each bite
resulted in at least a 3 pound fish. The quality you catch on this bait is
simply amazing, and the results of this tournament speak for itself. With
over 35 pounds in the box the “Oxygenator” and “U2 Pro Formula”
performed flawlessly as all fish were released in great condition. I have
received many phone calls and have been asked many questions about the
“Spindarella”, for the record it is not an Alabama rig, it is very different. I
would suggest you visit Fish N Stuff and see for yourself. This weight won
“Big Stringer of the Year” in the club.
2nd place
2nd Place - Bob Howard - 16.19 pounds
Bob got on a roll shortly after 10 AM and put 4 overs in the box in about 20
minutes on the “Spindarella”. He was culling way before William and kept
the momentum until about 2 PM, when William caught two fish in the 5
pound range. We had a great time fishing together and will remember this
day for a long time….We nicknamed it the “Spindarella Slug Fest”. Bob
took home second in this tournament and the Angler of the Year title for
2011.
3rd Place - Harold Lincoln - 12.70 pounds
Harold threw the Alabama rig for his 3rd place finish.
4th Place - Rick Coker - 12.01 pounds
Rick stuck with his trusty Rattle Trap to take the last place in the money.
Big Bass - William Hope - 5.50 pounds
William caught this Lake Degray Toad on the “Spindarella” at about 2 PM.
