Club Tournament on Lake Chicot

Story provided by Ron Plate

28 teams arrived bright and early to fish the 4th tournament of the year
at Lake Chicot for the Sherwood Bass Club.  There was a lot of
excitement in the air due to the approaching storm system and the fact
that some of the anglers had not fished Lake Chicot before.  Dock talk
was the bite was on as lots of folks had pre-fished the day before and
said they were catching good numbers of fish, but like most times, will
the fish bite the day of the tournament, only time would tell.

And at the end of the day, the scales said some folks found the fish and
others did not as only 4 limits were weighed in. And the winner for the
day was the team of David Johnston/Rob Walker with a 4 fish bag that
weighed 15.25 lbs.  Helping their bag was the big fish of the day, a 5.51
pounder.

The first place team of Rob Walker/ David Johnston said they caught all
their fish throwing senko’s and brushogs around cypress trees.

The second place team of Alan Petlak/Greg Meador said they also
caught their fish around cypress trees but were using spinnerbaits and
jigs. They had a weight of 13.78 lbs.

The team of Hoyt Akins/Doug Thompson rounded out the top three with
13.16 lbs.  They also used spinnerbaits and jigs to catch their fish.

The balance of the top ten were:

4.  Jeff Grappe/Jeff Glymp - 13.08 lbs
5.  Kevin Thompson/Matt Greer - 12.00 lbs
6.  Chris Pelliter/Mike Thomas - 10.40 lbs
