Zach King and Joey Fisher Win River Valley Bass Club Memorial Day Open on Lake Dardanelle
Zach King and Joey Fisher Win on Lake Dardanelle !!!
Story by Terrance Narveson
River Valley Bass Club held their Memorial Day two day tournament this weekend. The turnout was good and the fishermen had an opportunity to challenge each other over the two days. After the final results were tallied it was the team of Zach King/Joey Fisher that took the win with almost 34lbs for the two days. I got a chance to talk to the top three teams and this is how their weekend went:
1st Place - 33.85lbs - Zach King/Joey Fisher
They were concentrating on grass up river and had a few key bites come off on day one. Mainly their pattern consisted of flipping the heaviest grass they could find. The fish were there but they could not get them to bite. It was last minute heroics that got them the win as they found a school of fish with time running out and boated 3 big keepers (one was day two big bass). This gave them a 20lb sack for the day and enough to edge everyone else out for first place.
2nd Place - 31.69lbs - Tray Huddleston/Bradley Stewart

They focused on a milk run to get their fish each day. "The water was coming up and down and it was creating problems for us" said Tray. The main pattern was flipping Strike King and Booyah Jigs in the grass.
3rd Place - 31.35lbs - Rex Rose/David James

David and Rex used a more subtle pattern to get their fish. They were fishing the bridges with jighead worms. After the first day they had it dialed in to a few bridges that were producing the good bites and they just hammered those until it was time to come in. One dead fish the last day may have cost them second but third is still enough to be congratulated.
