Jackall brings the crawdad to life with the Cover Craw and
Sasuteki Craw
Terrance Narveson slammed this lunker on the Jackall Cover Craw!!!
Story by Terrance Narveson
Jackall has brought the crawdad to life with it's Cover Craw and Sasuteki
Craw. These soft plastics give you options when the fish are hungry for a
power packed meal of crawfish. These baits are loaded with salt and fish
attractant to help trigger the instinct to eat and to hold the bait longer. This
means more bites and more fish in the boat. The Cover Craw is great for
use with many different techniques. As a competitive angler looking for an
edge over the fish, I'm always looking for lures that are just a little different,
and Jackall has done it with the Cover Craw. This bait can be fished Texas
rigged in a normal fashion and slips into cover easily with its sleek profile.
It's also great for punching, as the Cover Craw's smaller appendages do not
get hung up in matted grass. The robust body also allows you to fish it
weightless which offers a slower fall. When a fish picks up the Cover Craw it
bites with a one bite "take all" motion. Be prepared for a quick bite and tug
when you drop this bait into a fish's lair.
If you are needing to get a bait into tighter areas or even get underneath
docks or low branches. Just reverse hook the Cover Craw and rig it
weightless so the bait will swim and glide away from you when it is dropped
in front of those low branches or dock edges. This is a technique that came
in handy for me on a few trips this past year.
The Cover Craw is available in two sizes 3" and 4" and in 8 fish catching
colors.
New for Jackall in 2009 is the Sasuteki Craw. This versatile crawdad bait
can be fished Texas or Carolina-rigged or even as a trailer on a jig. One of
the best ways I have used this bait so far is Texas-rigged in and around
heavy brush. It comes through the brush easily and has a natural movement
that resembles a crawdad that is gliding when it falls down to the bottom of
the lake. When dragging along the bottom it crawls easily and the natural
movements make it an easy target. It's narrow body and thin claws allow it
to come through the brush, rocks, and other thick places without getting
hung up. One of the things I like about the Sasuteki Craw is how even subtle
movements keep the bait looking real. It is tough to make a bait seem like
the real thing, but Jackall has accomplished this with the right combination
of size and design. When you are looking for a natural presentation to entice
your next catch, then you need to do it with the Sasuteki Craw. Jackall
offers this bait in 6 color options and they all catch fish. While trying this
new bait out, I experimented with some other baits in the same areas and
consistently had more bites with the Sasuteki Craw. I know it will be a "go
to" lure this next year.
