The Big Bite Baits' Rojas Cane Stick: Innovation not Imitation
The Cane Stick takes a good Dardanelle fatty!!!
Story by Frank Leone
It's been almost a decade now since the soft stick bait revolution kicked off.
Since then, this style of bait has won an untold amount of money and is a
mainstay in almost every anglers arsenal. With the Rojas Cane Stick, Big
Bite Baits has "raised the bar" when it comes to the soft stick bait. The
Cane Stick offers several options
which are unavailable from other
soft stick baits. First, the bait has
two heads and is totally symmetrical
from end to end. This is important
for two reasons. If rigging it Texas-
styled, this allows you to use both
ends of the bait. This means you can
catch more fish on the same lure.
It is also important for anglers that
like to Wacky-rig. Since it is
symmetrical, the action when wacky-
rigged is enhanced. Another innovation are the channels on the side of the
bait. This allows the bait to collapse upon hook-set, leading to a higher
percentage hook-ups and a lower percentage of lost fish. Another thing we
love about this bait is its length. The
5-inch Cane Stick is actually 5.5-inches
in length. This makes it substantially
longer than a standard 5-inch bait. This
not only appeals to larger fish, but
also makes the bait easier to cast. The
Cane Stick can be rigged several
different ways. Our favorite
presentation is the standard Texas-rig
with an 1/8 oz. slip sinker. On recent
outings, we have had a lot of success
pitching the Texas-rigged Cane Stick
in front of and in Water Willow
vegetation. The bait tends to
sink straight down, getting right into
the face of a bass wanting a meal. The Cane Stick can also be rigged
weight-less, wacky style, Carolina-rigged or on a jighead - It's a very
versatile bait. The Cane Stick is also available in a 4-inch model, which is
perfect for finesse presentations such as mojo-rigging or on a jighead. The
Cane Stick is an innovative and inexpensive soft stick bait! To check out all
