Griffin Park and Steve Howard Win the Millwood Lake
Open 2 Day Team Tournament

37 teams found the fishing to be extremely tough on Millwood Lake as
they departed Yarborough Landing early Saturday morning 10 April for
the two days of competition. Only 7 limits of fish were weighed in after
the first day of fishing and only Taylor Johnson was able to catch a fish
over 6 lbs. Taylor’s 8.26 lb lunker was plenty heavy to score the
Saturday Big Bass Honors and a $500.00 prize. First day leaders Don
Whisenhunt and Bruce Taylor with a 17.14 lb sack were guardedly
optimistic about their chances to catch another limit of fish.
The weather was just as beautiful on Sunday morning 11 April as the
teams departed the landing in hopes that the bite would improve with
the weather. This was not to be the case as only 4 teams weighted in a
limit of fish with over half of the field not catching a keeper. Griffin Park
and Steve Howard were much more fortunate and bagged their second
limit in two days to overtake the field and win the 2 day event. Eric
Thomas hauled in the day two big bass with a 9.88 lb Millwood Hawg
earning the day 2 big bass reward of $500.00.
