Greg Ault and Steve Howard Win the 3rd Annual MSSF Benefit

RUSSELLVILLE -- Greg Ault of Jessieville and Steve Howard of Conway captured the top
position Saturday, June 16 in the 3rd Annual MSSF Benefit team bass tournament held
on Lake Dardanelle, catching 5 bass that totaled 24.06 pounds. Ault and Howard earned
a check for $5,000 after beating out 105 two-person teams. They also captured the Big
Bass award and an additional $1,040 with a 6.40-pound lunker.
Todd Davis and Duke Gunnell earned second place, cash, and prizes valued at $2,600
for their catch of 18.19 pounds, narrowly edging out Rusty Allen and Mark Fletcher who
finished third with 18.10 pounds. For their efforts they won cash and prizes worth $1,370.
Tim Nesterenko and son Cameron of Little Rock captured first place in the Adult/Youth
category, weighing in a five bass limit at 12.98 pounds. For their efforts they received a
check for $1,700. All totaled, the event paid over $19,000 in cash and prizes to the
participants.
The 3rd annual tournament also raised more than $5,800 for the Michelle Short
Scholarship Fund, which benefits the University of Central Arkansas softball program.
Michelle Short was a freshman member of the UCA Sugar Bear softball team when she
was killed in an automobile accident in March 2004.
"This is our third year and we continue to grow the event. We are thrilled to see an
increase every year in the adult/ youth division" Short said. "We appreciate everyone who
was involved in the tournament in any way, from everyone who fished, to the volunteers
who helped us make this a special tournament. We hope it's even bigger and better next
year."

1st Place
Greg Ault/Steve Howard - 24.06lbs
Greg and Steve had a limit by 6:40 for about 18lbs and started culling fish from
that point on. All their fish were caught on a gravel drop on worms and DD14's.
That is an impressive limit for this time of year!
2nd Place
Todd Davis/Duke Gunnell - 18.19lbs
A 10" worm and brush were Todd and Duke's recipe for their 18lb limit.
3rd Place
Rusty Allen/Mark Fletcher - 18.10lbs
Mark said his brush fish were not firing and his partner pulled through for him
by taking them to some drops with stumps on it to catch their fish. It took
multiple fishing styles to get their fish, but Rusty did all the catching.
