Adam Starks wins the Monticello Bass Club tournament at Lake
Chicot

Story by Jeremy Risley

Adam topped 31 anglers to take the win at a stubborn Lake Chicot on Saturday by weighing
in a 5 fish limit of 13.71. This event was originally scheduled for Arkansas River but moved
to Lake Chicot due to unsafe conditions at the river. This was a difficult tournament with only
29 fish weighed in and 16 out of the 31 anglers had anything to weigh in.  Here is how the
top 4 finishers caught their fish:

1st – Adam Starks - 5 bass – 13.71 pounds

Adam is always very strong on Lake Chicot and it show by the margin of victory on this
tough day. He stated he caught his first three keepers on a 3/8 black and blue Jewel finesse
flippin Eakins jig with paca chuck trailer.  These fish came from the upper end of Lake
Chicot. The last two keepers came on a “modified” Jewel Eakins jig. He stated that he made
a custom skirt consisting of black and red. He used an ultra vibe speed craw with that jig.
Those two fish came from Connerly Bayou.

2nd – Terry King - 3 bass – 5.93 pounds

Terry stated he caught his fish shallow on what he always catches them on at Lake Chicot, a
crankbait.

3rd – Philip Starks - 2 bass – 4.78 pounds

Philip managed to catch some fish behind his son Adam. He caught his fish on paca craw
and a lizard.

4th – Cabel Lane - 2 bass – 4.77 pounds

He caught one fish at the causeway on bandit 200 series chartreuse crankbait and one in
Connerly Bayou on a black and blue Jewel Eakins jig.

Big Bass - Paul Francis 4.14 pounds

Paul should have his named changed to “Big Bass King” Paul because this is the second
tournament in a row that Paul has taken home big bass honors. He caught this toad on a
Riverside zipper. He stated that is the only fish he caught on that lure.
