Ofelia and Mark Sanders Win on Bull Shoals !!!

Mark and Ofelia topped 59 teams to win the Mid-Central Buddy Winter Bass Tournament on Bull Shoals Lake on November 29. The water level at Bull Shoals Lake has been at or near record highs since April. The water level is getting close to normal and on this day some of the best fishermen in the area showed up to find Bull Shoals on Fire!! There were 651 pounds of fish weighed in with 49 boats weighing in limits. There were 4 limits over 17 pounds. It has been a while since Bull Shoals Lake has put out that kind of weight. Here is how the top 4 finishers caught their fish:
1st – Mark and Ofelia Sanders - 5 bass – 18.85 pounds - $1840.00
Mark and Ofelia reported they caught their fish up near the K-Dock on crankbaits and jigs. They concentrated their efforts in chunk rock pockets. They said they caught over 35 keepers throughout the day. Their sack included the day's big bass, a 4.98 pound "baby cub”, which was caught on a crankbait. 2nd – Aaron Hodge and Johnny Lee – 5 bass – 17.08 pounds - $700.00
Aaron and Johnny reported catching their fish in the mid-section of the lake on a jig. They said their fish came from 15 -25 feet deep. They reported that they caught 30 keepers during the day.
3rd – Leon Newberry and Randy Zeigler - 5 bass – 17.03 pounds - $550.00
Leon and Randy reported catching their fish on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jerkbaits. They concentrated their efforts from Buck Creek to Big Creek. They said they caught around 20 keepers throughout the day.
4th – Preston Havens & Scooter Hutchins - 5 bass – 17.01 pounds - $370.00 Preston and Scooter reported catching their fish in the mid-section of the lake on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Scooter mentioned that Preston lost a spotted bass that would have been in the 4.5 pound range, which had to hurt!!
5th Place – Jerry Maples – 15.29 pounds – $250.00 6th Place – Gayle & Weston Julian – 15.04 pounds – $250.00 7th Place – Joe Gerth & Chuck Nofsinger – 14.69 pounds – $150.00 8th Place – Chris & Carl Jones – 14.65 pounds – $150.00 9th Place –Rick Schmeski & Roy Rigdon – 14.48 pounds – $100.00
