Duke Gunnell Wins Mr. Bass of Arkansas Tournament on Lake

Duke Gunnel topped 75 boaters fishing the Mr. Bass of Arkansas Tournament
this Sunday by weighing 5 bass that tipped the scales at 19.09 pounds. The bite
continues to be hot on Dardanelle, and many limits crossed the scales. Here's how
the top 3 boaters caught their fish:
1st place - Duke Gunnell - 5 bass - 19.09 pounds - $2,500.00
Duke has been on a tear of late on
Dardanelle (Top 20 - FLW Series,
Win - Fishers's Of Men Team Trail)
and today was no different. Duke
caught his fish on Jigs (black and blue)
fished around drops, and spin jigs
(White - willow leaf blade) fished
around main river grass. Duke also
received the $500 Landers bonus in
addition to his first place prize.

2nd place - David Thorton - 5 bass - 18.36 pounds - $1,375.00
David had an early limit, but continued
to cull fish all day long. He fished
shallow (3 ft. or less) and caught all
his fish on jigs and spinnerbaits.

3rd place - Steve Powell - 5 bass - 18.18 pounds - $940.00
Steve fished in the Shoal Bay area,
and also had an early limit. He threw
a Zara Spook to catch his fish.

1st place Amateur - Brian Kirkendoll - 5 bass - 13.78 pounds - $1,240.00
Brian fished with Bill Fletcher, and caught his
fish around brushpiles on soft plastics and
crankbaits. Brian and Bill fished the lower end
of Lake Dardanelle.
