Alvin Williams Wins the Lake Dardanelle Big Bass Classic!!!!!
Mike and Justin Wilkins (Co-owners of Rush Sporting Goods) present the first place check ($10,000) and trophy to Alvin Williams.
Alvin Williams (Hartman, AR.) topped a large field of anglers fishing the Lake Dardanelle Big Bass Classic this weekend by catching the biggest bass of the event, a 6.33 pounder. Turnout for the event exceeded expectations, as 299 anglers fished on Saturday and 208 fished on Sunday. For his efforts, Alvin will take home a $10,000 check, due in large part to Rush Sporting Goods and the Russellville Advertising and Promotions Board, who sponsored the event. The event was so successful that the dates for next year's Lake Dardanelle Big Bass Classic have already been set for April 25th and 26th, 2009 - So mark your calendars. This event will get bigger and better for 2009!!! Here's how Alvin and several other anglers caught their big bass:
1st - Alvin Williams - 6.35 pounds - $10,500.00
Alvin caught his lunker in the mid- lake area, in a place that has been very good to him this year. The fish took a black and blue jig (1/2 oz.).

Lonny Turner: 11:00 AM Winner - 5.24 pounds - $500.00
Lonny caught his lunker in the Illinois Bayou arm of Dardanelle. His fish took a spinnerbait.

Richard Tomlin: 11:00 AM - 2nd place - 5.20 pounds - $400.00
Richard caught his bass in Dardanelle Bay. His fish was positioned in shallow vegetation and took a Lake Fork Live Magic Shad Swimbait.

Mike Schlinker: 12:00 PM Winner, 3rd place overall - 6.07 pounds - $1,550.00
Mike caught his bass on the lower end of Lake Dardanelle. His fish was in shallow water and took a black and blue tube.
