Bill Dennis and Rick Easter Win the Lake Maumelle Classic on Lake Maumelle
Story provided by Bill Dennis
On October 2, 2010, Lake Maumelle presented a challenge to fourteen qualifying teams with very low water levels and eighty seven degree surface temperature.
After twenty nine years of experience on Lake Maumelle as a team, Bill Dennis and Ricky Easter had to pull from all of their previous knowledge of that lake to catch fifteen keepers and numerous non-keepers.
The more aggressive fish seemed to prefer a Jewell Jig, Bandit crankbait and soft plastics. Dennis and Easter caught their fish as shallow as 12 inches and as deep as 15 feet. The winning weight was 12.70 lbs. consisting of seven keepers.
Ricky Easter, owns Easter Scrap Metal and Bill Dennis is a retired school teacher who has recently started Central Arkansas Fishing Guide Services, Inc. Both men confirmed that pre-fishing and past experience contributed to this championship.
The Lake Maumelle Tournaments start the first week in April and complete that series the last week of September. There were approximately sixty teams that participated this season.
