Tournament: Mill Creek Bass Club
Lake Overcup
May 18th, 2008
Angler: Terrance Narveson
I fished with Greg Widner and I had never been on the water before this tournament. From what I
heard it was a shallow lake with lots of stumps and decient fish. We idled down the bank at take off
and started to make our way pretty much around the lake for the day. I was throwing topwaters and
jigs to start out but had no luck geting any bites. I had been noticing some shad activity around
some shallow logs but could not get any bites so I tried throwing a jig head worm around them. 8am
I had my first keeper that I caught on a jig head worm. Things pretty much slowed down after that
and it was not until almost 9:30 before we had another bite. We got on a wind blown bank and were
throwing frogs around the shallow brush. We both caught a few fish but no keepers. Next we moved
to another wind blown bank with a rock bank and just like that fish were there. I ended up losing two
good fish before putting one in the boat. We were throwing crakbaits. I had a RC 1.5 and it seemed
the bass liked it because the drum were eating everything else. I later changed to a tube to put
number three in the boat. We moved back to the rocky bank and fished it out until the end of the
tournament. Greg ended up catching two more keepers there and I lost another but I am not so
sure it was a bass. It was a tough day on the water but it was enjoyable to fish a new place. I ended
up fourth for the day but had my chance for the top spot. Execution of all your fish is key when the
bite is slow and I missed my chance.
