Tournament: Monticello Bass Club

Arkansas River (Dumas)
Anglers: Jeremy Risley
Place: 18th - 0 bass – 0 pounds
Practice: I didn’t practice for this tournament because I was confident in the area that Frank and I
had found during SuperTeam tournament and if that failed I would go out in the river.
Aug 18: Andy decided to fish this tournament with me. We made a short run up river to the
backwater area Frank and I did so well in two weeks before. When we get there the fish were
chomping!! We caught 8 fish on a buzzbait in the first 45 minutes. The only problem was they were
all to short. I wasn’t worried because I knew we could catch better fish fishing slow. We fished some
more with a buzzbait and continued to catch short. We then started fishing slow. We continued to
catch short fish. During this period, Andy was able to boat a solid 2 pounder. We continued to fish
the area till 11:30 and continued to catch short fish. We did see another boat catch a couple
keepers so we knew they were still in there. Finally, we decided to get out of there and find some
fish in the river. We did that the rest of the day and only managed one short fish.
Keeper count: ZERO
Final thoughts: Wow, I could easily make this a pity fest. It has been an awesome ride so far this
year and I was due for an performance like this one. To mature as an angler, you must put these
days behind you and move on the next tournament. The only problem is the next one could easily
be just like this one!!
