Lee/Paul Win Greers Ferry Lake Bassmasters Tournament on
Lake Dardanelle
Kelly Lee and Mitchell Paul
The team of Kelly Lee and Mitchell Paul brought in 5 bass weighing a whopping 21.65
pounds this Saturday on Lake Dardanelle. Their limit, which included the day's Big
Bass (A 6.70 pound "gorilla"), was more than enough to top the field fishing the
Greers Ferry Lake Bassmaster's Tournament. Lee and Paul caught their fish on a
combination of spinnerbaits and topwater lures. They said their day started off with a
bang, but was slow from 9:00am until 1:00 pm. They were able to upgrade their sack
after 1:00 pm, which helped them bring in the victory. The duo said the key to their day
was a 200-yard stretch of bank in the mid-lake area of Dardanelle. They believe that
the big females they caught were in the process of spawning during the May full moon
period (Their big fish had red tails).
2nd place - Ricky Biffle/Robert Johnson
The team of Ricky Biffle and
Robert Johnson placed second
with a limit of 5 bass weighing
17.55 pounds. The duo
commented that they had a good
day and were able to cull at least
three times. They caught their
fish on a variety of lures in the
lower section of Lake Dardanelle
but commented that their larger
fish were caught on a jig. Ricky Biffle and Robert Johnson
