Zach King and Shawn Gordon Win Get5Bass Summer Series
Championship on Lake Dardanelle
Shawn Gordon and Zach King Take the Championship!!!

The Get5Bass.com Summer Series Championship was held this Sunday at
Lake Dardanelle State Park and 32 Teams came out and competed to be
this year's champion. The rain held off all day but the wind gave some of the
fishermen challenges as many of the anglers struggled to get their fish
today. There were 12 limits weighed-in and a handful of people that brought
in 4, but Lake Dardanelle is still producing good quality fish week after
week. As we finish out this year's Summer Series we will be starting a
Winter Series starting in November. The Winter Series dates will be posted
later this week and we invite everyone to come out and join the fish
catching action. Here is how the top three teams caught their fish:
1st Place - Shawn Gordon/Zach King - 17.31lbs
Shawn and Zach started their morning up river in Shoal and Piney bays, but
only had 3 fish by 10am. A quick adjustment brought them back down to the
lower lake, where they fished drops with football head jigs. They ended up
culling all their fish but 1 by the end of the day. Shawn and Zach were
throwing their jigs on 7' Quantum PT rods and Quantum Energy PT 1170
reels. Zach said the Quantum rods helped them feel the light bite as the fish
were not very aggressive and barely taking the jig. It proved to be the
deciding factor for them as 2 of their better fish came late in the day.
2nd Place - Kris Lott/Lance Adams - 16.40lbs
Lance and Kris stayed shallow all day and had to cover a lot of water the
get their 5 today. The first fish was caught on a chatterbait but the rest of
their fish were caught on frogs. They literally had to move from hole to hole
as they could only catch one keeper at each location. Lance and Kris
focused mainly in the lower lake area.
3rd Place - Von Kinsey/Dillon Gannon - 15.87lbs
Shallow grass is where they started and it produced a small limit for them,
but as the wind picked up the bite stopped. Von and Dillon moved out of the
wind, but could not pick up any more fish. Later in the day the wind slowed
down and they moved back to their starting location and culled almost all
their fish. A frog was their main bait, but they also caught a few smaller fish
on a jig. They spent most of their day in the mid lake area.
