Gentry DePriest and Brent Williams Win the Get5Bass Winter Series Tournament on DeGray Lake
Brent Williams and Gentry DePriest Win on DeGray Lake!!!
Story by Cody Kemp
Twenty-one boats emerged from the fog Saturday morning to fish the first tournament of the 2011 Get5Bass Winter Series South Division Season. The talk before the tournament was that the fishing had gotten tough, as the lake starts its annual turnover and that the trick to sack ‘en a good stringer would be covering a lot of water as the fish were mixed throughout it.
1st Place - Gentry DePriest and Brent Williams - 5 bass - 21.01 pounds - $780.00
The team that did just that was Gentry Depriest and Brent Williams. They had an impressive bag weighing 21.01lbs which earned them $780.00. Gentry commented that the majority of his fish came from deep brush piles using a green pumpkin Sloan jig.
2nd Place - Tim Howard and Keith Lambert
Second place was Tim Howard and Keith Lambert they had a chunk field bag weighing 18.28lbs. The nice finish earned them a nice check worth $530.00. Tim commented his fish came from 20 to 25 feet of water on a magic little 50 yard stretch on the upper end of the lake. Jigs and C-Rigs were used to entice the fish into the boat.
Third place was Kevin Brown and myself (Cody Kemp). We had a nice lake DeGray limit weighing 16.74lbs earning us $350.00. We also weighed the big bass of the day that weighed a healthy 5.46lbs, earning us an additional $100.00.
