Jerry Williams and Don Johnson Win the Get5Bass Winter Series Tournament on Lake Dardanelle
Jerry Williams and Don Johnson Win on Lake Dardanelle!!!
Jerry Williams and Don Johnson topped 29 teams fishing the 3rd Get5Bass Winter Series Tournament of the season in the North Division by catching 5 bass that tipped the scales at 18.57 pounds. The tournament started with a 45 minute fog delay, but the thunderstorms that were predicted for the morning never appeared. Instead, the anglers fished under bluebird skies and 70 degree temperatures. The bite continues to be tough on Dardanelle, and only three 5 bass limits crossed the scales. Here's how the top three teams caught their fish:
1st - Jerry Williams and Don Johnson - 5 bass - 18.57 pounds - $940.00
Jerry and Don fished in the Piney Bay area, where they concentrated on deep structure. They commented that the afternoon bite was good and culled all day long (they caught 12 keepers). A drop shot rig (soft plastic worm - Green pumpkin or watermelon candy color) and a jig produced their winning stringer.
2nd - Donnie Cobb and Chris Tucker - 5 Bass - 12.46 pounds - $550.00
Donnie and Chris fished the mid-lake area, where they caught their bass on a jig (black/blue) and a jerkbait. They commented that all of their fish were caught early. They landed 8 keepers on the day.
Chris Tucker and Donnie Cobb
3rd - Danny and Sharon Waldo - 4 bass - 11.64 pounds - $350.00
Danny and Sharon had some bad luck early when they lost an ear off of their prop. This forced them to stay in the Shoal Bay area all day long. They caught their fish on a small Lucky Craft jerkbait.
