Zach King and Shawn Gordon Win Get5Bass Summer Series Tournament on Lake Dardanelle
Zach King and Shawn Gordon topped 30 teams fishing the fourth Get5Bass Summer Series Event of 2008 by catching 5 bass that 21.41 pounds. Along with their first place check of $600.00, Zach also qualified for $3,000.00 through the Skeeter Real Money Program. This week's event was sponsored by Fletcher Oil and Ridout Lumber. Here's how the top 3 teams caught their fish:
1st Place - 21.41lbs - Zach King/Shawn Gordon - $600.00
Zach and Shawn ran up the river to Shoal bay and were flipping YUM Wooly Bug's in the mats. Their fish came off the floating mats in Shoal bay, Troughlin, and outside Piney Bay using Quantum Pt reels with 7'6" Quantum PT rods with 65lb Suffix Braid to get the fish out of the mats. They had only 5 keepers on the night, but lost two more giant fish that never got out of the mats. Along with wining the tournament they also won the Skeeter Real Money which was valued at $3000 as they were fishing out of Zach's new 20i Skeeter.
2nd Place 16.67lbs - Mark Flecther/Rusty Allen
Mark and Rusty were running and gunning on brush piles all evening.They didn't catch many fish only bringing 4 fish to the scales but it was enough to get them second. They were throwing worms and jigs in the brush to catch their fish this evening.
3rd Place 16.44lbs - Bryce Smith/Eric Shattford
They were keying on roadbeds with jigs and crankbaits. The bite was only good while there was still daylight and as soon as it got dark the bite shut off. They did not catch another keeper after it got dark.
Big Bass: Robert Dunn/Charlie Lawrence - 7.07 pounds - $100 Robert and Charlie caught the day's big bass, a 7.07 pound "hawg" that earned them a Dobyns Rod ($170.00 value) in addition to their $100 check.
