Winning Pattern:

Cody Kemp Makes it Two in a Row on Degray

Tyler Whitley (left) and Cody Kemp (Right) Win the Fishers of Men
Tournament with just 4 on DeGray!!!

Winning pattern as told by Cody Kemp

Man it was a real tough day, we got to our first spot and caught two giants,
my partner, Tyler Whitley caught one that was 6.12 and a couple casts later
I caught one that was 7.10. After we caught those they just "shut off" on
that spot. So we left and ran to my next spot and in few casts I caught one
that was around 5.8. We had our first three fish within 2 hours, that weighed
over 18 pounds "WE WERE PUMPED"... Thats when it got rough and the
wind was ridiculous... I was running to my next spot when I hit a monster
wave and my trolling motor shaft ripped out of the head unit...
"COMPLETELY IN-OPERABLE"... So we would have to pull up on a spot
and let the wind just push us around... I was about ready to cry I was so
angry, but I kept telling my partner Tyler that we had a lot of time to catch
one more fish and thats all I thought it would take. "one keeper" thats easy
right? Wrong!!!  We killed ourselves all day trying to catch that last fish...
We had four good bites that I know of get off, because we would be drifting
toward our jigs and when we did make contact with it and we would feel that
distinctive "jerk-jerk" of a fish spitting it out. I stopped on my last spot
where I had caught a five pounder on the previous day with about twelve
minutes left in the tournament. Made about 5 casts and felt a small touch on
my jig, with out even knowing if it were a fish or not, I set the hook hard,
didn't want another "jerk-jerk", and realized I was just down in some grass.
I screamed at my partner "Why couldn't that have been a fish ", and as
soon as my jig stopped moving after ripping it "one smashed it"... So I got
the fourth fish in with about 6 minutes left in the day... We were so stoked
when we seen that tail drift across that 16 inch mark, he was about 16 1/2" a
good 2 pounder. But thats all we needed... We won with 21.10 lbs for 4 fish,
Spencer Shuffield and Stetson Blaylock had 5 fish that weighed 20.12lbs...
So we won by a mere 14 ounces, hence the saying " NEVER GIVE UP ".

Notable: Cody's pattern was very similar to his Mr. Bass victory. He
threw a 5/8 oz. Jewel Football jig (Black/Blue Flash) over deep grass lines.
He commented that his bites came a little shallower than during the Mr.
Bass Tournament, with most of the fish coming from 20 - 21 feet of water.
