Brandon Rhoden and Sam Smuthers Win the Dumas Bass
Club Open on the Arkansas River@Dumas
Brandon Rhoden and Sam Smothers Win on the Arkansas River!!!
Story by Andy Case
Finally Pool 2 of the Arkansas River was not out of control on flow or high
water, so everyone’s anticipation was high. With not a lot of other events
taking place the Dumas Bass Club was expecting a decent crowd. And
when we got to the ramp, it appeared we were to have a good turn out. 15
teams showed up and were ready to celebrate the long Independence Day
Holiday with a good fishing tournament. Several good 5 bass limits were
weighed in….
However the team of Brandon Rhoden and Sam Smuthers did not come to
the Dumas Pool to just play around. Coming to the scales with a HUGE 5
fish limit of 19.77 lbs!!! This Bass catching Duo also weighed in the days
Lunker of 6.07lbs…Adding to their total take home Purse. Great sack of
fish guys!!! As I interviewed Brandon and Sam by their boat about what
they caught their fish on, Brandon said just take a look…In his boat was 18-
20 rods, with every type, color, shape, and size of frog I have ever
seen…so I will go out on a limb here and say they used…frogs of some
type.
Coming in 2nd with 15.85 was the always hard to beat “EASTWOOD”-gang.
Father and son team of Mr. Glen and Sam Eastwood came in with a nice
sack of 5 bass. They said all their fish came out of the river on jigs and
worms.
On a Special Note:
The Dumas bass Club would like to say thank you to all of those who came
out to any and all of the Fund Raiser Events. These events are needed to
help keep the clubs strong and functioning, your support and
participation to our club is greatly appreciated, and thanks again!
