Ricky Cantrell and Don Jones wins the James “Dood” Paxton
Benefit Bass Tournament on the Arkansas River at Dumas

This was a benefit tournament to help raise money for James to have some
much needed surgeries. On December 16, 2006, James was in a single car
accident that left him paralyzed from chest down.  Twenty boats came out on
this day to help with this fund raiser. Ricky and Don topped the 19 other
boats to take the win at Dumas on Saturday September 20. From the
reports around the weigh-in area, Coal Pile was on Fire!!!! Here is how the
top 4 finishers caught their fish:

1st – Ricky Cantrell and Don Jones - 5 bass – 20.31 pounds














Ricky and Don caught this big sack of fish in Coal Pile. They reported
catching two fish early on a white spinnerbait. Then they caught the rest of
the fish on a black finesse jig with black twin tail grub.

2nd – Matt Parker and Gary Farrer - 5 bass – 17.23 pounds

Matt and Gary stated they caught there fish on worms and topwater in
Merrisach.

3rd – Caleb Lane and Daniel Sawyer - 5 bass – 13.83 pounds

Caleb and Daniel reported catching their fish in Coal Pile. They said their
bite was slow but managed to get a limit on a Jewel black and blue 5/16
Eakins' Jig. They tied with fourth place but had a 5.16 “toad: to break the
tie.

4th – Glenn Eastwood and Mark Turner - 5 bass – 13.83 pounds

Glen and Mark reported catching their fish on spinnerbaits in Coal Pile

1st Big Bass – Jim Tower and Buddy Oldner – 5.99 pounds












Jim said that he and his net man Buddy caught this “Baby Cub” on a red
rattle trap. Guess where they caught this fish? Yes, you guessed right, they
caught it in Coal Pile!!!

2nd Big Bass – Jeff Pluckett and Jonny Brown – 5.82 pounds

They caught this fish on a jig in Coal Pile

Mike Courtney plans on having more benefit tournaments as well many
other types of fund raisers to help raise money for James. Watch the
