Zach King and Bradley Stewart Win the Fort Smith Wal-Mart Benefit Tournament on Lake Dardanelle
Bradley Stewart and Zach King Win on Lake Dardanelle!!!!
Story by Terrance Narveson
The Duo of Zach King and Bradley Stewart topped 30 teams fishing the annual Ft. Smith Walmart Tournamtent Benfiting the Childrens Hospital. It was a wild morning as wind conditions caused the anglers to start their early morning runs on the hwy rather than on the water. Take off was from the parking lot and it was trailer your boat to wherever you want on Dardanelle and go fishing, but you had to be back by 4 to weigh your fish. A little different approach and some strategy came into play for some of the anglers. It was Zach King and Bradley Stewart that brought in the days big sack and took home top honors for this year. With the wild conditions, this weeks numbers fell off from the average that has been taking to win but none the less there were a lot of fish weighed-in.
Here is how the top 3 teams caught their fish:
1st Place - Zach King/Bradley Stewart - 19.23lbs
They fished in Shoal Bay and Troughlin Slough throwing 6" Yum Lizards and 3/8 oz Black/Blue Booyah Jigs. Their first two fish came off beds and they were using a power pole to stabilize the boat in the wind to catch them. Their other fish were caught by just covering water and beating down the bank. They had a lot of strikes but could not hook up on all of them. The windy conditions did not help them much and made it a little difficult to fish.
2nd Place - 16.54lbs - Mel Davis/ Gene Davis
They drive to Spadra and ran down to Cabin Creek where they proceeded to go after spawners and had a great day. It was their usual spinnerbait with a tube or jig for the ones that just missed the spinnerbait. They were keying on spawning fish and had a similar problem with fish missing and not taking baits.
3rd Place - 13.41lbs - Sisson/Wilson
Spinnerbaits in the dead grass all around Piney Bay. The water was muddy so they were throwing chart/white spinnerbaits. With about 10 fish caught on the day it was enough to get them 3rd place.
