Scott Dean Wins Bassmaster Weekend Series Regional on Lake Dardanelle
Scott Dean Wins on Lake Dardanelle !!!
Story by Terrance Narveson
Scott Dean struggles on Day 2 but holds on for the win at the Bassmaster Weekend Series Regional on Lake Dardanelle. It was a brutal tournament for all the anglers that came to Lake Dardanelle as the Arkansas River system has been not been giving up many fish this Fall. Fishermen are baffled and frustrated as day after day they struggled to find a limit of fish and sometimes just a fish. We will see the lake start to stabilize soon as the river flow and water clarity are starting to give way but for the 280 anglers that were here this weekend they got to fish in some of the toughest conditions this year. Here is what Scott had to say about his tournament:
1st Place - Boater - Scott Dean - 22.69lbs
His practice was fair and he only located 1 spot in a creek. He was throwing a square bill around the stumps to catch his fish. There were others around him and they gave him lots of room and didn't come in his spot. It was basically a 1 day deal for Scott because on day 2 the fish were pretty much gone. He did end up catching two that were just enough to get the win. Along with winning a new Triton Boat he also won a couple side pots for biggest stringer and big bass, and to top it off he won the Triton Gold award for an additional $5000. That makes for a pretty good weekend even if the fishing was tough.
Second Place - Boater - Cade Alsbury - 22.42lbs
Cade almost pulled the upset but fell a few ounces short. He struggled to find fish in practice as everyone was trying to do the same thing and the water was getting pounded. He did find 1 location that was off the main river and no one seemed to be fishing in there. He started in a creek both mornings and moved to his main river slough to camp out for the day where he never saw another angler. His fish were caught on a black and blue Black Angel Jig and black and blue Sweet Beaver. He felt that having the water to himself and the fish replenishing back in the pocket helped him finish so high.
