Zach King Wins the Bassmaster Weekend Series Tournament on Lake Dardanelle
Zach King Wins on Lake Dardanelle!!!
Story by Terrance Narveson
The Bassmaster Weekend Series made its stop on Lake Dardanelle this past weekend. Even though the warmer weather has started to move in, the lake water temperatures have stayed relatively cool, making the bite on Dardanelle still a little tough. Only 28 boaters were able to bring in at least 1 fish and 19 co-anglers managed the same. Zach King, from Clarksville, was the only angler to bring in a limit today, which helped him take the win as he and Chris Roark tied for first place. Here is what our top three anglers did to catch their fish:
1st Place - Zach King - 12.78 pounds
He started in the pits throwing rogues but was able to only get 2 keepers. After that he fished around the lower end trying to find a few more fish, but it was a late move that proved to be the ticket as he caught the rest of his limit in about 20 minutes off one spot. It was an Excalibur XR25 lipless crankbait that filled the limit out late in the day. To watch video of Zach going in depth about his day, Click Here.
2nd Place - Chris Roark - 12.78 pounds
One more fish is all he needed to take the win but with only 4 fish he had to settle for second (according to tie breaker rules). Chris also caught all his fish on a rattletrap on the lower end of the lake. He said he was fishing within sight of the park area.
3rd Place - Tim Gartman 8.74lbs
He traveled up the river and was focusing on flats with ditches and old creek beds. His main bait was a squarebill crankbait.
