Duke Gunnell Wins the Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza with a 8.14
pound "Giant"
Duke Gunnell (Benton, AR.) won the 2008 Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza by
catching a 8.14 pound "Giant" from the Dumas Pool. More specifically,
Duke caught his fish on a River2Sea Frog in Post Lake. For his victory,
Duke earned the $100,000 first place prize.
Here's how a couple of the hourly winners caught their big bass on Lake
Dardanelle:
1st place - 11:00 AM (Sunday) - William Casey Sr. - 6.23 pounds
William caught his fish on the
upper end of Lake Dardanelle. His
fish bit a Stanley Ribbit fished
through the pads.

1st place - 10:00 AM (Saturday) - Shawn Gordon - 6.25 pounds
Shawn started his day fishing a drop
on the lower end of Lake Dardanelle.
He commented that the action was
fast and furious, as he boated
several keeper bass by 7:00 AM.
He had to wait until about 8:30 to
catch his "giant" 6.25 pounder. The
bass hit a Bomber Fat Free Shad
crankbait (No. 7, Gizzard Shad).

1st place: 11:00 AM (Saturday) - Richard Wood - 6.44 pounds
Richard fished the upper end of Lake
Dardanelle. He concentrated his
efforts on rock jetties, where he
caught his 6.44 pound "toad" on a
spinnerbait.
