Robert Duggar Wins Arkansas BASS Federation Championship
                          on Lake Dardanelle!!!

Robert Duggar wins with a 2-day total of 24.15 pounds

Robert Duggar (Old Union Bassmasters) topped 272 anglers competing in the
2006 Arkansas BASS Federation Championship held October 27th and 28th on
Lake Dardanelle by bringing nine bass to the scales weighing 24.15 pounds.
The bite was brutal on Dardanelle, as anglers were plagued by 30 - 40 MPH
winds on day-one, and post-frontal conditions on day 2. In a tournament when
limits were rare, catching enough quality fish to make the 12-man state team
was a major accomplishment. Here's how the top 4 anglers caught their fish:

1st - Robert Duggar - 9 bass - 24.15 pounds

When asked to describe his week on Dardanelle, Robert gave a one-word
answer "Rough".  He was obviously referencing the day-one weather
conditions and not his fishing. Robert made a long run up to Horsehead
Creek, were he found two points loaded with fish. He threw a black Stanley jig
tipped with a River Bottom Lures Craw-Pad trailer to land his fish. On day-one,
his fish were positioned shallow on the points, and readily took his jig. On
day-two, his fish moved out to deeper water on the ends of the points, and he
had to fish much slower. This is Robert's second State Team qualification in a
row.

2nd - Tony Parsley - 8 bass - 20.18 pounds

Tony (Washington County Bass
Club) found a bank loaded with
shad about 20 -25 miles from the
State Park in practice. The shad
and the fish were still there during
the tournament, and Tony was able
to execute. He threw a spinnerbait
and a Bandit 100 (fire tiger) to land
his fish.

3rd - Daniel Bowlin - 8 bass - 18.25 pounds

Daniel (Northwest Arkansas
Bassmasters) locked down to Pool
9 to catch his fish. He concentrated
the majority of his efforts on Jetties,
but also landed a few fish from
backwater areas. He caught his fish
on War Eagle Spinnerbaits and jigs.

4th - Randy Rheem - 7 bass - 18.18 pounds

Randy (Saturday's Bass Club), who
is from the Russellville area, was
afforded the luxury of pre-fishing
7 out of 8 days prior to the
tournament. He found quality fish in
Piney Bay and Shoal Bay, and landed
them with a Lucky Craft R.C. 1.5
crankbait. He said his best fish came
around rocks.

The Natural State Bass Anglers topped 49 teams fishing the 2006 Arkansas
BASS Federation Championship by catching 28 bass that tipped the scales at
67.32 pounds - taking the title and winning the BassCat by over 20 pounds!!!
The guys attributed their landslide victory to team work, as they fished
together and compared notes all week. They had several different patterns
working, and their fish were caught on spinnerbaits, jigs, jighead worms,
topwater baits - even an out of production bait called the aggravator (similar to
a Johnson Silver Minnow). Get5Bass congratulates the Natural State Bass
Anglers on their victory!!!

Here are the top 5 teams:

1st - Natural State Bassmasters - 28 bass - 67.32 pounds
2nd - Deep South Bassmasters - 20 bass - 47.12 pounds
3rd - Anvil Jaw II - 22 bass - 43.75 pounds
4th - Valley Springs Bassmasters - 16 bass - 40.62 pounds
5th - Mill Creek Bass Club - 25 bass - 40.26 pounds

Notable:

* BassCat Boats became the major sponsor of the Arkansas Bass Federation
shortly before the 2006 championship. According to Pete Dubois (BassCat
representative) the sponsorship included the top prize for the six-man team (
BassCat Pantera II) and benefits to the 12-man State Team that will include at
the very least clothing to wear at the BASS Federation Nation Regional
Championship slated for 2007 in Mississippi. "We are hoping this will begin a
long relationship with the Arkansas Bass Federation" said Dubois. "It's been a
long time coming, but it's a good thing that has happened for us, and I'm sure
good things will come out of it" Dubois concluded.

* Kenn Bass, The youth director for the Federation, was mighty impressed with
his day 2 partner - Blake Martin (Saturday's Bass Club). "Blake is one of the
best angler's I've fished with", said Bass. Martin, who is just 16 years of age, is
one of the youngest anglers ever to qualify for the State Tournament. "Blake
should be a role model for all young anglers, continued Bass - "I hope all the
anglers fishing this event take notice of Blake's accomplishment (making the
tournament) and introduce more young anglers to the sport" Bass concluded.
