Jared Taliaferro Wins the Arkansas BASS State Federation
Tournament on Lake Dardanelle
Jared Taliaferro Wins on Lake Dardanelle!!!
Jared Taliaferro topped the field fishing the 2009 Arkansas BASS State
Federation Tournament on Lake Dardanelle by catching 8 bass that
weighed 18.93 pounds during the two-day event. Fishing was extremely
tough on Lake Dardanelle, limits were scarce, and it only took 11.60 (over 2
days) to make the State Federation Team. The club competition was won in
convincing fashion by the Cabin Creek 3 team. Their 6-man team landed 24
bass weighing 62.29 pounds to win the competition by over 16 pounds. For
their efforts, Cabin Creek 3 wins the BassCat Pantera Classic boat!!!
Here's how the top 3 anglers and Cabin Creek 3 caught their fish:
1st - Jared Taliaferro (Bear Creek Bass Club) - 8 bass - 18.93 pounds
Jared relied on two baits to land his winning stringer. A Strike King Pure
Poison chatterbait and a Lucky Craft RC 1.5 both put fish in the boat. Jared
worked the baits around main river rocks, vegetation, and wood located in
the mid-lake area.
2nd - Tyler Powers (Alma Bassmasters 3) - 5 bass - 16.97 pounds
What Tyler lacked in quantity he made
up for in quality. On day 1, he locked up
into Ozark Pool, where he swam a jig
(black/chartreuse) around shallow
vegetation. On day 2, Tyler stayed in
Dardanelle and once again swam a jig to
catch his bass.

3rd - Zach King (Cabin Creek 3) - 6 bass - 15.83 pounds
Zach fished a spinnerbait and a buzzbait around shallow cover to catch his
fish.

Cabin Creek 3 concentrated their efforts around shallow grass. Besides for
Zach King's spinnerbait and buzzbait fish, most of their bass were caught
swimming jigs (Booyah, Mann's Stone Jigs, and home made) in the grass.
