2006 MSSF Benefit Team Tournament a Success !!!!

The 2006 MSSF Benefit
Tournament held at Lake
Dardanelle State Park was a
huge success!!!  71 teams
competed for the $5,000 1st place
prize. The event was actually two
tournaments in one, as adult/minor
teams competed for a $1,500 1st
place prize. Over $4,000 dollars
was raised to benefit the Michelle
Short Scholarship Fund, which is                      
Kevin and Kerry Short
set up through the University of Central Arkansas to assist athletes in the
UCA Softball Program. The Fund is fully endowed and should provide assistance to
female athletes at UCA for many years to come.

Anglers - Fish this tournament next year. It's for a great cause and the fishing on
Dardanelle this time of year is awesome. Everything about the event was 1st class. It
is obvious that Kevin and Kerry worked their tails off
to organize this event. Their goal is to get at least 100 boats fishing this tournament
annually. Let's help them reach that goal....


Jerry and Mark Williams win 2006 MSSF Benefit Tournament

Well known FLW touring pro Jerry
Williams and his son Mark won the
$5,000 first place prize by bringing
in 5 bass weighing 19.17. They
caught their fish on a Variety of
lures, including Zara Spooks, Zoom
Horny Toads, spinnerbaits, and
Zoom Lizards. Jerry commented that
4 of the 5 they weighed-in were
caught on the lizards. There fish
were caught from various locations         Jerry and Mark Williams Win!
from Piney Bay downriver to the Park.

2nd Place - Fred Martin and Tyrone Phillips

Fred Martin and Tyrone Phillips
took second place bringing in 5
bass weighing 19.16. They caught
their bass in the mid lake area on
a variety of lures, but Tyrone
commented they put away all other
baits when they figured out the
Senko bite was on fire. They
caught nearly 20 keepers on the
day.

3rd place - Zach King and Richard Wood                                                       
Zach King and Richard Wood brought in 5 bass weighing 18.69 to take third place.
They caught their bass near wood from Spadra downriver to the Park.
They caught their fish on Arkansas Hawg Caller spinnerbaits and Cyclone Jigs.

Kerry and Kailey Milner win Adult/Minor Competition!!!!

Kerry and Kailey Milner won
the $1,500 dollar first prize by
bringing in 5 bass weighing
18.21. They caught their fish
around water willow on
lizards and Horny Toads.
Kerry commented that they
stuck to one area all day long
to catch their fish. Great Job

Donnie Cobb/John Wiles Win Big Bass Award

Donnie Cobb/John Wiles landed the
largest bass of the day, a 5.31 lb.
lunker. Donnie admitted that he
caught the fish (on a spinnerbait).
Donnie also said that John did an
excellent job of landing the fish and
"Didn't fall down or anything".
